Our Visualize 3D and Publish 3D suite of products, along with the latest versions of CADverter and Multi-CAD provide improved support for information supporting the Model Based Definition (MBD) process, helping to streamline manufacturing into a paper free process by publishing an information rich 3D CAD model that fully defines a product.

As modern 3D CAD applications allow for the creation of 3D dimensions and annotations (PMI/FTA/GD&T) along with multiple model views and layouts and other product information within the 3D CAD data set for both components and assemblies, the risk of error is greatly reduced. Now that all of the product definition information can be created using these 3D Model Based Definition (MBD) methods, an alternative and completely digital method replacing the traditional 2D drawing creation process is achievable.

Using an MBD approach in your engineering definition process is the way to create all of the product information needed to define a product in one annotated 3D CAD model, and then share the information through a viewer application: PDF, JT, Creo View, or 3DXML so that the data is more accessible to others within the manufacturing process, saving time, improving quality ad reducing ambiguity.

Having invested engineering resources to create a rich MBD models Theorem’s Publish 3D product enables you to add that content into your Manufacturing and Inspection documents. These can now be used on the shop floor on low cost tablet devices as well as on workstations.

Our translation, visualization and publishing products offer the capability to utilise MBD information processed from native CAD (at the point of translation) in to any of the following light weight data formats – PDF, 3XML, Creo View and JT – dependent upon the users requirements, in-house systems or the needs of the supply chain or business partners.

Using the lightweight data formats as the method to send 3D model data to manufacturing can also save on CAD license costs and resources as viewing software is free. For example, if using 3D PDF as a means to share MBD information associated to the 3D representation, the likelihood is that you already have Acrobat Reader installed and won’t require any specialist training or viewing applications. Theorem’s Publish 3D products offer the capability to save native CAD directly into the PDF document format with all associated MBD information.

Theorem’s products supporting MBD can also reduce the processing time of large CAD models as specific views can be filtered and processed at the point of output whilst also safeguarding IP. Viewer applications allow saved views and sections to be viewed, interrogated and shared.

Our products have had a rebrand!

Our extensive product portfolio has undergone a complete rebrand with a view to differentiate products into new families that simplify and streamline the process for the user to select the correct solution for their needs, whether that’s CAD to CAD, CAD to STEP, CAD to Visualization or CAD to Publishing.

Due to the nature of design in manufacturing companies, there is no one standard CAD, Visualization or Publishing system. Manufacturers and their supply chains often have different systems in place, sometimes within the same four walls of the company. Each of these has particular nuances and they store their design information in widely differing formats.

As technology has evolved and the performance capabilities of computers has dramatically improved, it has enabled a much wider set of use cases and applications to be commercially and technically viable. However, these different use cases and applications require different types of 3D data in order to work. Sometimes the differences in the 3D data are subtle, in other cases the differences are significant.

Translation is the enabler that allows all of the different types of 3D data to be created. Theorem products provide the means to do this and it’s not always a simple process.

Multi-CAD

When developing large and complex products such as cars or aeroplanes, designers can be faced with the need to use numerous CAD systems in-house, on a single product design and manufacturing task.

Theorem’s Multi-CAD application system is a low cost and efficient solution to the problems that can be encountered when a CATIA V5 or V6 user needs to work on projects where other CAD or Visualization data needs to be regularly worked on inside of CATIA. Publish 3D is all about the creation of documents for distribution containing interactive 3D content. In simple terms it is a publishing solution for organisations who design with mechanical CAD or who want to extend the use of their visualization data to create interactive 3D documentation that can be shared amongst those within the organisation and supply chain who may not have access to, or understanding of native CAD data.
